Explanation of VE7SUN Repeater
The VE7SUN repeater is a home brew repeater system.  The repeater is part of the free star system.  This allows you the user to connect to various xrf & ref reflector systems to make contacts on a world wide basis.  The repeater is also enabled with the ircDBB software.  This will allow you the user to locate an individual ham anywhere on this network.  Some example settings for your radio are listed below.
Alternate Settings:
Turning on reflectors:
ur:  XRF005AL  (see below for explanation)
r1:  VE7SUN B
r2:  VE7SUN G
When connection is made with the reflector you will hear an audio message saying connected.  Once you hear the confirmation connect message you must change to the general setup setting above for any transmissions as this setting is only telling the software to make a connection and it's not for audio.

Subsitute REF if your linking to a REFxxx reflector.

r1:  VE7SUN B
r2:  VE7SUN G
When you have finished using a reflector please unlink it and return the repeater to local use.  This is just a good and polite policy to follow for your fellow users.  If somebody has accidently left the reflector turned on do your good deed for the day and unlink it.

Call Sign Routing
Call sign routing is a powerful tool that let's the software find the person your looking for instead of you calling a whole set of repeaters looking for them.  This software using the ircDBB network will automatically direct your transmission to last repeater they keyed up on.  (Example: were looking for VE7FKY)
ur:  VE7FKY
r1:  VE7SUN B
r2:  VE7SUN G
When calling the distant station, make sure you announce that you are on call sign routing and that the other station will have to do a "one touch" in order for them to get back to you. One touch is available on all D Star radios with the exception of the V91 & 92 and 2200 (older models)

Repeater State
If your wondering if the the repeater is already linked to a reflector use this command
        ur:  (7 blank spaces)I
        r1:  VE7SUN B
        r2:  VE7SUN G
You will receive a voice prompt back and if connected your data screen will advise which reflector             your connected to.
Other Explanations
Reflectors:
We have two different forms of reflectors.  There is a set of reflectors that the ICOM dplus system uses and their defined by:  REFxxx.  The second set of reflectors is with the Free Star system and their defined by:  XRFxxx.   VE7SUN d star repeater is the only repeater in Metro Vancouver where you have the choice of which reflector system you want to use.  Each reflector has 3 channels "A" "B" & "C"  The chart shows the break down of the ur structure when connecting to XRF005AL or REF016BL.

reflector we want channel we want telling software to connect.

XRF005 Reflector:
This reflector is an experimental reflector.  Channels "B" &"C" are for D Star use, but channel "A" has an analog bridge installed and you could end up talking to a ham using a traditional fm analog repeater.
REF016B:
Friday night at 6:00 the CanNet is called to order.  This is a social net and we invite all hams to join in the cross Canada net, including US and world wide checkins.
